Lecturers from the Master's Degree (S2) in Primary Education programme at Djuanda University took part in the International Conference on Science, Technology, Education, Language, and Management (ICOSTELM) held at Universiti Geomatika Malaysia (UGM), Malaysia. This international conference served as a prestigious scientific forum that brought together academics, researchers, and education practitioners from various countries to discuss the latest developments in the fields of education, science, technology, language, and management in a global context. At the event, Djuanda University was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Helmia Tasti Adri, M.Pd.Si, a lecturer in the Master's Program in Basic Education who is active in the development of basic education and inclusive education research. The participation of Djuanda University lecturers in ICOSTELM reflects the institution's commitment to promoting the internationalisation of higher education, particularly in the areas of research, scientific publications, and international academic networks.
The ICOSTELM conference was attended by various universities from Malaysia and involved 13 universities from Indonesia, creating a dynamic and collaborative academic space. Through this forum, participants not only presented their research results but also engaged in interdisciplinary scientific discussions, exchanged perspectives, and explored the potential for academic cooperation between universities at the regional and international levels. On this occasion, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Helmia Tasti Adri, M.Pd.Si had the opportunity to present her research results in the ICOSTELM parallel session. The research presented raised the topic of applying the STEM approach and gamification in improving the scientific reasoning abilities of students in inclusive schools. This study stemmed from the need for innovative, adaptive, and diversity-friendly learning models, especially for students with special needs who study in inclusive school environments. In her presentation, she explained that the integration of the STEM approach with gamification can create a more contextual, engaging, and cognitively challenging learning environment. This approach not only encourages active student involvement in the learning process but also contributes to strengthening scientific thinking skills, such as logical reasoning, hypothesis testing, and problem solving. The findings of this study make an important contribution to the development of inclusive science learning practices oriented towards strengthening 21st-century competencies.
The Head of the Master's Programme in Primary Education at Djuanda University, Dr Wiworo Retnady Riashayu, M.Pd, expressed his hope during the farewell ceremony for the departing lecturers that their participation in this international conference would make a real contribution to the future development of the Master's Programme in Primary Education. In her message, she emphasised the importance of utilising the momentum of international conferences as a means to open up opportunities for further academic cooperation with various universities in Malaysia. This cooperation is expected to be realised in various forms, such as research collaboration, joint publications, lecturer and student exchanges, and the sustainable organisation of international academic activities. Through active participation in ICOSTELM, Djuanda University reaffirms its commitment to continuously enhance the capacity and competitiveness of its lecturers at the international level. This participation is expected to strengthen academic culture, enhance institutional reputation, and have a positive impact on the development of the Master's Programme in Basic Education.
