Last Updated: 4 months ago

Melaka, Malaysia, 28 February 2026 The Postgraduate School of Djuanda University (UNIDA) continues to expand its international academic network through a visit to the Technical University of Malaysia Melaka (UTeM). In this activity, UNIDA Graduate School was represented by Dr. Lina Herlina, S.Hum., M.Pd, as Head of the Islamic Education Management Master's Programme, to conduct academic observations and explore institutional cooperation.

The visit began with an observation of the UTeM campus environment, which is known as one of the leading technical universities in Malaysia with strengths in engineering-based education and applied technology. The delegation gained an overview of the learning system, the strengthening of research culture, and the integration between higher education and industrial needs.

The main agenda of the visit was to inspect UTeM's Advanced Manufacturing Teaching Factory. This facility is a practice-based learning centre that combines the educational process with future industrial technology innovations. Inside the factory, there are various technology development units, including:

1. Digital printing for the production of educational toys for children

2. Drone innovation and development laboratory

3. Small aircraft design and manufacturing facility

4. Modern manufacturing simulation area based on advanced technology

This teaching factory model demonstrates how universities can become centres of innovation as well as contextual learning spaces that are relevant to global technological developments.

Dr Lina also had the opportunity to operate drone technology in a special room at UTeM's Advanced Manufacturing Teaching Factory.

On the same occasion, a Letter of Agreement (LOA) was signed between Djuanda University and UTeM Malaysia as a form of initial commitment to academic cooperation. This agreement opens up opportunities for collaboration in research, lecturer and student exchanges, academic programme development, and technology-based learning innovation.

The Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at Universitas Djuanda, Dr. Aal Lukmanul Hakim, S.H., M.H., said that this collaboration is a strategic step in improving the academic quality of UNIDA.

“Collaboration with UTeM strengthens Universitas Djuanda’s steps towards international academic standards. Direct observation of applied technology facilities such as this provides great inspiration for the development of practice-based learning and innovation on campus,” he said.
