Bogor (Antara Megapolitan) - The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held a "Training on Database Development for Research and Community Service". The event was held in Mahoni Room, Campus of IPB Taman Kencana, Bogor (24-25/10). Chairman of the committee, Prof. Dr. Pudji Mulyono expressed his gratitude for the enthusiasm of the participants to attend this training. In the training which has been held for the third time, 19 participants from Universities (HEIs) throughout Indonesia participated. In addition to sharing the database with fellow LPPM activists, database development is something that needs to be pursued continuously, how to classify research so that it can be disseminated to the community. He said, the experience of LPPM IPB with the management of this database can find out that from the existing researches only about three percent can be applied to the community, therefore the downstream program needs to be supported. This training is also in order to invite participants to be able to achieve clearer research downstreaming targets; the database in each PT is better; policy making is also expected based on the database. The same thing was conveyed by the Head of LPPM IPB, Dr. Prastowo. He said IPB has very valuable experience related to the database. "With the developed database, we can reflect on the performance of our Community Research Program (PPM). So many thousands of research titles only three percent in the 4th phase were disseminated to the community. Since then, our focus has been on how the database gives us feedback. We packaged a research scheme, called institutional research, so that IPB has a very strong database and argumentation. Hence, the need for institutional research schemes. With that scheme we can conduct research in accordance with the research master plan, that's what we want to share," she explained. One of the participants, Dra. Dewi Trirahayu, MM from Pancasila University, said that she was interested in attending this training event on her own. "The material provided is interesting and very relevant to my duties at LPPM Pancasila University," she said.
